The biggest focus of the police this Ramadan is to manage the traffic flow in the congested Maldivian capital, according to police.

In an appearance on SSTV’s ‘Roadha Thayyaaree’ on Wednesday night, Inspector of Police Ahmed Shujau said the police have compiled a special set of procedures for Ramadan.

He said that the biggest priority is to manage the traffic flow.

“The key focus areas include areas where mosques are located, school areas, office areas, and high traffic areas in Male’, Hulhumale’, and Vilimale’. We have plans in place to manage the traffic in these areas,” he said.

Shujau said that additional officers will be dispatched during times when the traffic is expected to be high, such as in the evenings.

“We have made arrangements to send more officers and manage the traffic smoothly in high traffic areas. We have made our work plans so parked vehicles are attended to and public transport continues uninterrupted,” he said.

Shujau said that some of the high traffic roads the police will especially focus on include the Sinamale’ Bridge, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, and Majeedhee Magu.
