Gender gives protection to woman after domestic abuse case

A woman from GDh. Madaveli has been given protection by Gender Ministry following a domestic abuse incident on Tuesday.

The Gender Ministry said the case had been reported to the police from their side as well, and that there were also investigating the case.

The victim is also receiving psychological assistance, the ministry said.

Furthermore, responding to the rumors circulating, the ministry also confirmed that the woman involved in this case was not underage.

The incident was brought to the attention of the public with a video circulating on social media.

The video shows a man dragging a woman out of the house and throwing her on the street. The man repeatedly assaulted the woman while children and some residents gathered around them.

Additionally, the footage shows the man going back into the house after the woman went inside again and drag her into the street once more.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man following the incident.
