Five companies have signed Memorandums of Understanding with Maldives Police Service for its community safety program.

The MOUs were signed in a ceremony at the Iskandhar Koshi on Sunday morning.

Solarelle Insurance signed as the gold sponsor. The agreement was signed on behalf of the company by Managing Director Deeptha Dias.

Meanwhile, Sun Siyam Media’s SSTV signed as the media partner. The agreement was signed on behalf of the channel by Chief Content Officer Mohamed Zaheen.

SIMDI Group, EyeCare Opticals, and the NGO - Enlighten a Mindful Community signed as associate sponsors.

Speaking to Sun after the signing ceremony, Superintendent of Police Abdulla Naseer said the police have multiple activities planned to reduce the crime rate across the Maldives.

“We will make a lot of progress if we are able to run activities nationwide with the help of these partners,” he said.

Naseer said that running community empowerment initiatives nationwide is one of the biggest goals of the police.

He said that the partners will help the police achieve the goal.

Solarelle’s Assistant Marketing Manager Mohamed Muazzin said the company has always supported community empowerment initiatives. He said the company was pleased to sign the agreement.

“We are happy to support this program as the gold partner. We will continue to provide our support, especially in programs designed to raise awareness within the community,” he said.

EyeCare Opticals’ Marketing and Business Development Officer Azzam Abdul Fattah said the company was pleased with the initiative taken by the police to launch a program that is designed to tackle crime proactively.

“We are greatly pleased with such a program, run for the sake of the future generations. We wanted to join them and lend our support,” he said.

He thanked the police for the opportunity, and pledged assistance to future initiatives by the police.

SIMDI’s Marketing Manager Ibrahim Hameesh praised the police for their community empowerment initiatives.

“We will donate some of the products from our brands through this partnership. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the police once again,” he said.

Enlighten a Mindful Community’s co-founder and president Aminath Reema described its as a promising day.

“We signed this MoU with the aim of supporting a strong society and responsible youth,” she said.

Police are set to conduct activities across Maldives under the program.
