Civil Court has ruled in favor of M, Mulah MP Ibrahim Naseer in a civil suit filed by an individual claiming almost MVR 300,000 from the parliamentarian.

The claim was submitted by an individual who claimed to have conducted business with MP Naseer.

In this regard, the claim stated that MP Naseer owed USD 17,800 (MVR 274,476) to the claimant in connection to a fisheries product export business.

The claimant said that the individual who owed the claimant the money had deposited it to MP Naseer’s account – also granting him permission to use the deposited money. However, the claimant alleged that it was orally agreed between both of them that MP Naseer would hand over the money to the claimant when asked.

Despite this, the claimant stressed not having received the money as agreed to date.

MP Naseer denied the claim, stating no oral agreement had been executed between the parties with respect to the money in question. The claimant failed to prove there was an oral agreement between both parties during the trial.

Therewith, Judge Abdul Nasir Shafeeq, who was presiding over the case, ruled in favor of MP Naseer, stating he did not need to pay the claimant.
