Ex-VP Jihad appointed special advisor to JP leader

Former Vice President Abdulla Jihad has been appointed as the special advisor to Jumhoory Party’s (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim.

The appointment was announced during the closing ceremony of Jumhoory Party’s (JP) fourth congress on Sunday night.

Jihad, during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration and former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik’s administration, had also served as the Finance Minister. He held the post of the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority’s (MMA) government during former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom’s administration.  He first entered civil service at the Auditor General’s Office before eventually moving on to hold various posts across different government organizations. 

While Jihad has been appointed special advisor to JP’s leader Qasim – five more individuals were appointed advisors to Qasim on Sunday night as well.

They are; incumbent advisors; former Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed, former Vilufushi and JP council member MP Riyaz Rasheed and former Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, and Azleen Ahmed who served as the Home Minister during Yameen’s administration in addition to Abdulla Nawaz who served as acting Police Commissioner during Yameen’s administration.
