Rasmaadhoo Council requests development of flats to ease housing shortage on island

R. Rasmaadhoo Council has made a request to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih regarding the development of flats on the island to ease the housing shortage presently faced.

The council made the request during a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday at the President’s Office alongside Rasmaadhoo Women’s Development Committee (WDC).

During the meeting, the councilors expressed confidence in the administration and its capability to deliver its developmental agenda.  On this note, they compared the developmental progress of the island over the past four years to that of past administrations and applauded the administration for the high number of projects initiated under its leadership.

The councilors also briefed the President on the needs and concerns of Rasmaadhoo's community which included housing, road construction, space and budget constraints for the council, healthcare, installing a ramp at the harbor, coastal protection in the swimming area, and the need for a football pitch.

Meanwhile, WDC members expressed concern over financial difficulties.

President Solih, after hearing the councilors and WDC members, agreed to work closely with them to identify ways to address and remedy their grievances. He emphasized that the administration strives to establish essential services and carry out important development projects to boost island economies and increase their income.
