It has been revealed that a phone call recording exists as evidence against Abdullah Javid, arrested in relation to the assassination of Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali.
This was revealed in the High Court ruling on the case appealed by Javid following the extension of his detention period by 15 days by Criminal Court.
High Court supported Criminal Court’s decision to extend his detention period, and said that evidence collected against Javid include a phone call recording as well as statements obtained during the investigation process, which are reasonable evidences for a criminal offence.
High Court also responded to Javid’s claim that he was not informed of the evidence against him when Criminal Court extended his detention period, and said that the Court session to determine a person’s detention period is not for questioning and debating on the evidence collected against the suspect.
High Court said that Criminal Court extended his detention period because the possibility existed of him influencing the evidence, and because releasing him could threaten safety in the society.
