MTCC resumes Hulhumale

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has resumed its speedboat services between Male’ and Hulhumale’.

MTCC Transport Executive Ismail Farig said today that the captain and crew of the speedboats have been given additional training prior to the resumption of this service.

“Several steps have been taken to ensure safety measures, and the Hulhumale’ express service will not be available in the night. It will begin at 6:45am. But the Hulhule’ express service will be available in the night as well,” he said.

He said that the two major changes which have been made before resuming the service are that the service stops at 6:00pm daily and that all passengers have to wear life jackets while on-board.

The service was stopped after an accident near Dhoonidhoo on the night of 2 December, between a Hulhumale’ express speedboat and Bandos Island resort speedboat, where one tourist on-board the Bandos speedboat died and several people on both boats suffered serious injuries.
