Maldives invites bids for 14 islands for resort development

Maldivian Tourism Ministry has invited interested parties to submit bids for development of 14 islands and logoons as tourist resorts – many of them from Huvadhoo Atoll.

In an announcement on Monday, Tourism Ministry said the invitation is open to both local and foreign investors.

The highest land acquisition cost is for a 10-hector plot from K. Kaashidhoo lagoon and two 10 hector plots from F. Nilandhoo lagoon – each for USD 2.25 million.

The islands and lagoons open for bids are:

  1. HA. Alidhuffarufinolhu (3 hectors): (USD 350,000)
  2. HA. Medhafushi (10.90 hectors): (USD 875,000)
  3. HDh. Kudafarufasgan’du (1.20 hectors): (USD 200,000)
  4. R. Eh’thigili (with 10 hectors from R. Alifushi lagoon) (10.90 + 10 hectors): (USD 250,000)
  5. K. Kaashidhoo lagoon plot (10 hectors): (USD2,259,000)
  6. M. Boahura (2 hectors): (USD 288,500)
  7. F. Plot of lagoon 1 from F. Nilandhoo (10 hectors): (USD 2,250,000)
  8. F. Plot of lagoon 2 from F. Nilandhoo (10 hectors): (USD 2,250,000)
  9. Th. Olhufushi and Olhufushifinolhu (3 + 0.54 hectors): (USD 700,000)
  10. GA. Beyramauddoo (3.08 hectors): (USD 431,200)
  11. GA. Funadhooviligilla (5 hectors): (USD 700,000)
  12. GDh. Kalhehuttaa (7.61 hectors): (USD 573,300)
  13. GDh. Haadhuaa (7.42 hectors): (USD 560,900)
  14. GDh. Fereythavilingili (as a cluster with Dhekaan’baa, Koderataa, and island on coordinate number 0°22'12.86"N 73°1'28.98" E) (1.4 + 2.39 + 2.5 + 2.9 hectors): (USD700,000)

Interested parties have been asked to submit proposals by March 21.
