MIRA collected MVR 22.04 billion as tax revenue in 2022

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced it collected over MVR 22 billion as total revenue in 2022.

The monthly revenue collection report published by MIRA for shows it collected MVR 2.6 billion as tax revenue in December 2022 alone. The figure is 27.4 percent higher than the tax revenue collected in December 2021.

The biggest contribution to revenue in December 2022 came from GST. MIRA collected MVR 882.3 million in GST.

Top revenue contributors:

• GST: MVR 882.3 million
• Tourism Land Rent: MVR 359.9 million
• Income Tax: MVR 130.5 million
• Green Tax: MVR 75 million
• Airport Development Fee: MVR 63.8 million
• Airport Departure Tax: MVR 62.3 million

The MVR 22.04 billion collected as tax revenue in 2022 fell short of the MVR 24.3 billion projected for the year.
