Sheikh Adam Nishan and Sheikh Fazloon Mohamed have been given a period of 10 days to appoint lawyers during the hearing held on Monday for the terrorism charges against them.
Both of them along with multiple others have been charged with terrorism and other charges over the mob attack on the event held at the national football stadium on June 21, to mark World Yoga Day.
Their charges are for encouraging to create unrest.
For the hearing held at Criminal Court, both Sheikhs arrived without lawyers, and upon commencement of the hearing, they expressed their desire to proceed only in the presence of a lawyer.
Presiding Judge Hussain Faaiz Rashaad decided to grant their request and gave them 10 days to appoint lawyers.
All those who were arrested and charged over the Yoga Day incident have now been released. Charges were pressed against a total of 18 individuals including both Sheikhs.
