Bank of Maldives (BML), on Monday, has announced its Sports Scholarship.

The initiative is part of the series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives to celebrate the bank’s upcoming 40th anniversary.

As per the Bank, the scholarship is aimed at supporting athletes to achieve their sporting potential through targeted programs. In this regard, they will provide three fully funded scholarships for top national athletes to train and develop at recognized high-performance training centres across the world.

The scholarships are to be managed in association with Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) and will be open to all registered national sports associations.

Commenting on the newly announced scholarship program, BML’s In-charge and Acting MD Aishath Noordeen said that the Bank remains committed to playing an important part in developing sporting talent in the country.

“BML remains committed to playing an important part in developing sporting talent in the country through youth development programs and partnerships with national associations. Today, we are further delighted to announce our new Sports Scholarship to support top athletes to achieve greatness on the national and international stage,” she had said

Noordeen also noted that the Bank’s monthly initiatives continue to focus on giving back to the community and investing in the future of the country.

BML said that details of the application process will be published at a later date.

The Bank has launched ten monthly initiatives to celebrate its 40th anniversary since November 2021. The initiatives are:

November 2021: BML Scholarship Fund

December 2021: Upgrading the National Library

January 2022: BML Startup Grant

February 2022: Housing Grant

March 2022: Small Grants

April 2022: Support to upgrade Home for People with Special Needs

May 2022: Online fundraising platform ‘Kindly’

June 2022: BML Fehi Project

July 2022: Upgrading the Maldives National Museum

August 2022: Development of an oncology ward at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)

BML will celebrate its 40th anniversary in November.
