Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed has said that the standard of education can only be improved by improving the standard of preschools.
Asim said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of a new preschool in Vilimaafannu, built by the Education Fund.
“Preschool is one of the phases of education. They cannot be separated. So one important part of improving the standard of education, is improving the standard of preschool education,” he said.
He said that if preschools can be improved, it would act as a foundation for increasing the number of students who go for higher education. He said that the new preschool in Vilimaafannu would facilitate preschool education for students who do not have the opportunity to join preschools in Vilimaafannu as well as Male’.
Chief Guest at the ceremony, Vilimaafannu MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik said that the new preschool will end the long wait for a preschool by the people of Vilimaafannu, and that the school will open new doors for students who wish to obtain preschool education.
He requested that services be provided at reasonable prices, despite the school being leased out to a group.
Vice Chairman of Education Fund Ameen Ibrahim said that the preschool will give over 500 additional students the opportunity to gain preschool education. He said that the new preschool building will have eight classrooms.
