Ameen takes oath as Ungoofaru Member of Parliament

Ibrahim Ameen has taken the oath for Member of Parliament this morning. Ameen, the new member for Ungoofaaru constituency is the younger brother of late Ungoofaaru MP DrAfraasheem Ali.

Opening the Parliament session today, Parliament Speaker Abdulla Shahid announced that the Elections Commission had officially informed the Parliament of Ameen’s victory and that he has taken his oath this morning.

Shahid welcomed Ameen on behalf of all the Parliament Members and said that he hopes to have Ameen’s full cooperation.

“I am sure that Ibrahim Ameen will fully participate in the budget issues we are debating now, as well as all in other issues,” said Shahid.

Voting for the seat took place last Saturday. Ameen contested on a PPM ticket and won against rival MDP candidate Dr Ahmed Ashraf.

Ameen’s elder brother DrAfraasheem Ali was found murdered on the staircase in his residence H. Funvilu on the night of 1st October.
