Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced it will disclose the names of taxpayers who failed to submit tax statements or defaulted on GST, Green Tax and Withholding Tax as of the end of last year.

MIRA said it will disclose the names of such taxpayers this month.

MIRA said it will be disclosing the names of taxpayers who defaulted on both tax and non-tax payments throughout the year.

The names of taxpayers who failed to submit statement or defaulted on Income Tax last year will be disclosed in October, said the authority.

In a statement in March, MIRA said it had commenced enforcement actions to recover billions in accumulated dues owed to the state.

According to MIRA, the accumulated dues owed to the state as of 2021’s end stands at MVR 16 billion.

MIRA urged all taxpayers to pay their taxes or come to an agreement on a tax payment plan with the authority.
