Five arrested for violence in Himmafushi

Five people have been arrested in connection to two separate incidents of violence in K. Himmafushi.

One of the incidents pertained to intruding on an operational tourist guesthouse on the island – and destroying some of the properties of the guesthouse.

A Police Spokesperson said this incident was reported to authorities at approximately 15:45pm on Saturday, following which they arrested a 32-year-old under a court order in connection to the case.

The Spokesperson said that four additional people were arrested for causing violence on the streets of the island on early Saturday morning; a 20-year-old, a 27-year-old, a 29-year-old and a 37-year-old.

Both cases are under further investigation by the police.
