Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), on Tuesday, has revealed the company’s decision to offer seven fully funded scholarship opportunities for higher education.
The scholarship is a joint-initiative of MPL and Minister of Higher Education. In this regard, a ‘corporate scholarship’ agreement was signed between the Ministry and the company today.
At a special ceremony held at MPL head office earlier today – the agreement was signed by MPL’s CEO Ali Shahid and Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan.
Under this agreement, the company will fund the higher education studies of student selected from those included in the A’ Level Top 10 in field related to work undertaken by MPL every year.
MPL said the corporate scholarship would be offered annually starting this year.
Although MPL funds the scholarship – all procedures pertaining to the announcement of the scholarship, selection of students and awarding the scholarship will be undertaken by the Higher Education Ministry.
Speaking at a signing ceremony, MPL’s CEO Shahid said the company has always prioritized offering employment and education opportunities for youths.
Apart from the corporate scholarship opportunity – MPL will announce additional six scholarship opportunities this year. This includes scholarship from the fields of ports operations, safety, finance and engineering amongst others.
Speaking at today’s ceremony, the Higher Education Minister thanked MPL for their cooperation in facilitating scholarship opportunities.
