Hulhumale Hospital on Monday confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the issue of a baby being born in the hospital elevator.
In a press statement released, the hospital stated that its quality assurance department was currently investigating the case.
“After a thorough investigation is done, the hospital will not hesitate to do all the work necessary to strengthen patient care to ensure the best possible care is given to the patients.”
Moreover, the statement noted that the hospital has always aimed to assure the safety of patients and provide services that are up to an acceptable standard to the public.
The incident in question took place on July 16. The baby was stillborn.
While the hospital has not detailed further on the incident, recounts shared by family members of the victim accused the hospital of negligence.
