Police officer suspended over alleged sexual misconduct

A police officer has been suspended from the force over a video allegedly showing the officer engaging in same-gender sexual relations.

The video which has been leaked on social media shows the officer engaging in sexual relations with Bangladeshi national, Alamgiri, who is being investigated for engaging in sexual relations with high-profile male politicians and videotaping the acts.

Police, in a statement on Wednesday, said that the leaked video allegedly showing the police officer is currently being investigated.

They noted that apart from a criminal investigation against the officer – a disciplinary issue is also being investigated by Professional Standard Command.

In light of this, the Police said that the officer in question has now been suspended without pay.

Multiple videos and photos of alleged high-profile individuals including Colonel Nasheed engaging in sexual relations have been leaked on social media starting end of June.

The first leaked video allegedly shows Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar, a prominent lawyer and the younger brother of Parliament speaker, former president Mohamed Nasheed, engaging in sexual relations with a Bangladeshi man.

Nazim Sattar has also been barred from travel as police investigates the case.

The second was a photo which allegedly shows South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain) naked on a bed with a man and a woman.

The third was a video which allegedly shows former journalist Abdulla Naseer Ibrahim engaging in sexual acts with another man.

The fourth was a photo of former Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel Nasheed) at the same room see in the videos was leaked on social media.

Colonel Nasheed and Alamgiri has also been barred from travel as the investigation against them continues.

Police, on multiple occasions, have stated that they are probing each case – whereas necessary action will be taken during the course of investigation.
