Dhiraagu extends support to Gender Ministry’s FCSCs across Maldives

Local telecom giant, Dhiraagu, has extended support to ‘Amaan Veshi’ and ‘Amaan Hiya’; which are Family and Children Service Centers (FCSCs) being run by the Gender Ministry across Maldives.

‘Amaan Veshi’ and ‘Amaan Hiyaa’ are homes for children under state care and shelters for victims of domestic violence established in the atolls.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Dhiraagu to provide assistance to Gender Ministry’s ‘Amaan Veshi’ and ‘Amaan Hiya’ was officiated at a special meeting held at the Ministry on May 16.

Under this initiative, Dhiraagu will be providing its high-speed fibre broadband and DhiraaguTV services to ‘Amaan Veshi’ established at the following locations;

  • B. Amaan Veshi (located in B. Eydhafushi)
  • Sh. Amaan Veshi (located in Sh. Funadhoo)
  • Gn. Amaan Veshi (located in Gn. Fuvahmulah)
  • HA. Amaan Veshi (located in HA. Dhidhdhoo)
  • L. Amaan Veshi (located in L. Fonadhoo)

The telecom company’s support will also be extended to five new alternative care homes that are yet to be established;

  • N. Amaan Veshi (located in N. Manadhoo)
  • HDh. Amaan Hiya (located in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi)
  • M. Amaan Veshi (located in Lh. Naifaru)
  • S. Amaan Veshi (located in S. Hithadhoo)

Dhiraagu said that its services will be provided to computer labs situated at all of the above FCSCs under their CSR to support the educational needs of children.

 “Following National Children's Day celebrations, it is our pleasure to make this special contribution to
Family and Children's Service Centers (FCSCs) as part of our commitment towards digital literacy and
inclusive education, so that children in FCSCs across Maldives will have access to online educational
resources and enjoy connectivity,” Dhiraagu’s CEO, Managing Director Ismail Rasheed had said during the officiating ceremony.

Gender Minister Aishath Mohamed Didi thanked Dhiraagu on behalf of the government for their continuous support.

As part of the telecom company’s CSR focus to support children under state care – Dhiraagu has always supported Kuda Kudhinge Hiya in Vilimale’ and Fiyavathi in Hulhumale’.
