Group arrested from Addu City on suspicions of plotting a terrorist attack

A group of people have been arrested from Addu City, over suspicions of plotting a terrorist attack.

Police have confirmed the arrest to Sun. However, no further details such as the number of people arrested, the island from which they were arrested as well as the details of the alleged terrorist attack has not been disclosed.

The arrest from Addu City comes at a time where President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, India’s External Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and many other senior government officials are at the city for official purposes.

President Solih departed on a four-day trip to the two southernmost atolls, Addu and Fuvahmulah, on Friday. During his ongoing trip, President Solih inaugurated the India-funded police college developed at Addu City this morning.
