Speaker Nasheed to head to Malta alongside two other parliamentarians

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed is scheduled to depart to Malta tonight, on an official trip.

Whilst presiding over today’s Parliamentary session, Speaker Nasheed had announced that the People’s Majilis had received an invitation to take part in the ‘Forum for Culture and Peace’, set to take place in Malta.

On this note, he added that he will be departing to the country tonight to take part in the forum, alongside two other parliamentarians.

The two other parliamentarians accompanying Speaker Nasheed are South Galolhu MP Mickail Naseem and Hulhumale’ MP Ali Niyaz.

Speaker Nasheed said that they will conclude the trip and return to Maldives on next Sunday.

“I depart to Malta tonight. By will of god, will be returning on Sunday. This trip mostly comprises of traveling,” he had said.

Set to take place on March 3 and March 4, ‘Forum for Culture and Peace’ is the second such forum being organized by Al-Babtain Cultural Foundation. The forum’s theme this year is ‘Leadership for Just Peace’.

The forum aims to be a practical step ahead to explore and set up institutional mechanisms, educational programs, tools, and action plans for the development of leadership competencies in order to achieve the overall goal which is “Just Peace” and enduring stability of relations between peoples.
