COVID-19: 2,609 new cases; 16,666 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 2,609 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 122,777.     

According to HPA, the 2,609 new cases include; 1,427 cases from the greater Male’ region, 783 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 109 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 1,673 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 105,827.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 16,666 active cases.      

There are 57 patients in hospitals.      

7,584 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,963 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 36 percent.

Maldives has recorded 271 COVID-19 deaths.
