Gender Ministry partners with Hope for Women to assist domestic violence victims

Gender Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local women’s rights NGO, Hope for Women to assist victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence. 

The MoU was signed by State Minister for Gender Zifleena Hassan and Hope for Women’s Chairperson Ahmed Anwar on Sunday. 

According to Gender Ministry, the MoU pertains to improving access of victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence to legal aid and peer support groups. 

Hope for Women will work together with the Gender Ministry for one year under the MoU. 

Gender Ministry states the initiative is part of efforts to expand and improve services available to victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence. 

Victims from both Male’ and islands outside the capital will be provided assistance under the initiative, said the Gender Ministry.
