COVID-19: 536 new cases, 267 from Male' area

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Wednesday, confirmed additional 536 cases of COVID-19 cases, bringing the total cases in Maldives to 99,635.      

According to HPA, the new cases include; 267 cases from the greater Male’ region, 158 cases from residential islands outside Male’ and 83 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 200 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 94,702.    

With these new developments, Maldives now has 4,656 active cases.

There are 21 patients in hospitals

5,513 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,077 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 9 percent.

January 6: 304 cases  

Maldives has recorded 264 COVID-19 deaths.
