COVID-19: 161 new cases; 2,463 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 161 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 96,052.      

According to HPA, the 161 new cases include; 40 cases from the greater Male’ region, 41 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 80 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 79 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 93,314.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,463 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

3,209 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 712 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 5 percent. 

With the 161 new infections on Sunday, 1,188 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

December 29: 198 cases 

December 28: 190 cases 

December 27: 168 cases 

Maldives has recorded 262 COVID-19 deaths.
