COVID-19: 191 new cases; 2,381 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 191 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 95,891.      

According to HPA, the 191 new cases include; 53 cases from the greater Male’ region, 68 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 66 cases from operational resorts, and 4 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 108 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 93,235.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,381 active cases.      

There are 16 patients in hospitals.      

3,433 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 808 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 4 percent. 

With the 191 new infections on Saturday, 1,159 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 1: 191 cases 

December 31: 160 cases 

December 30: 120 cases 

December 29: 198 cases 

December 28: 190 cases 

December 27: 168 cases 

December 26: 132 cases 

Maldives has recorded 262 COVID-19 deaths.
