The family of a one-year-old burn victim who sustained burns on 45 percent of his body, requested public assistance.
Asal Bin Abdulla from K.Gulhi sustained the injuries after boiling hot water spilt on him from a rice cooker.
Speaking to ‘Sun’ about the incident, Asal’s father Abdulla Fuad said that the toddler who can walk independently pulled on to a cord attached to the rice cooker that was placed on a table.
“When he (Asal) pulled on the cord, the rice cooker tilted to a side, and hot water spilt on him.”
The family immediately travelled to the capital Male’ City and admitted Asal to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Although his condition started to improve with treatment, on Tuesday, having scratched his chest and losing a lot of blood, the toddler had to be given a transfusion.
Fuad whose occupation is fishing was forced to leave work in order to stay with his son. This left the family facing financial difficulties.
Additionally, since almost half of their son’s body suffered burns, the concerned family wants to travel abroad for treatment. Hence, the family urged the public for their generous contribution in getting their son treated.
