COVID-19: 218 new cases; 1,933 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 218 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 93,064.      

According to HPA, the 218 new cases include; 20 cases from the greater Male’ region, 188 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 10 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 85additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 90,861.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,933 active cases.      

There are 15 patients in hospitals.      

4,246 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 813 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 218 new infections on Saturday, 969 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

December 11: 218 cases 

December 10: 92 cases 

December 9: 125 cases 

December 8: 128 cases 

December 7: 133 cases 

December 6: 157 cases 

December 5: 116 cases 

Maldives has recorded 257 COVID-19 deaths.
