Water and sewerage project commences in Feridhoo

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has commenced work on building a water and sewerage system in AA. Feridhoo. 

The project was inaugurated by MWSC’s Managing Director Hassan Shah, Board member Ibrahim Anwar, Mathiveri MP Hassan Zareer, and Feridhoo Council’s President Ismail Shah in a ceremony in Feridhoo on Saturday morning.

MWSC has already mobilized the equipment and material needed for the project, and has begun installing the pipes. 35 percent of the work on the facility that will house the water plant is complete. 

The water project in Feridhoo involves establishing a 6.77-kilometer main water pipeline network, construction of an RO facility, installation of two RO plants, and three water tanks to store water.    

Additional work includes installation of water meters in households, providing water connections, and supplying clean and safe drinking water.    

The sewerage project, meanwhile, involves establishing a 5.05-kilometer main sewerage network, a 1.07-kilometer pump line, three pump stations and one sea outflow.    

Additional work includes establishing junctions in households, providing sanitation connections, and providing sanitation services to households.    

MWSC is also scheduled to provide a generator set and vehicles needed to manage the water and sanitation system, and equipment to test the water quality. 

The project was contracted to MWSC by Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Ministry for MVR 69.33 million.
