Maldives’ COVID-19 death toll rises to 254

Maldives has recorded an additional COVID-19 fatality – increasing the number of total fatalities to 254.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) identified the deceased as a 77-year-old Maldivian woman. He passed away at 6:30am this morning, whilst being treated at Hulhumale’ Medical facility.

On Saturday, Maldives recorded two COVID-19 deaths; a 93-year-old Maldivian man admitted at Dhaalu Atoll Hospital who passed away at 07:10am, and a 92-year-old Maldivian man from HA. Thuraakunu, who passed merely an hour after, at 08:28am.

In the last 24-hours, HPA has announced 102 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 92,095.      

According to HPA, the 102 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 72 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 5 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 100 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 90,103.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,726 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.
