Supreme Court decides to look into case on Hulhumale

The Supreme Court has decided to look into a case filed about one year ago to Civil Court by lawyer Ismail Visham, questioning the legitimacy of the Hulhumale’ Court.

An official of Supreme Court said that the Council of Judges of Supreme Court made the decision today, to accept the case.

He said that the Civil Court has been requested to provide the file and all documents related to this case.

He said that permission was also granted today to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to file the case questioning the legitimacy of the Hulhumale’ Court.

The official informed that once JSC files the case, the trial will commence as soon as the registration process is completed.

When the case was filed to Civil Court by Visham last year, Civil Court informed that the case was outside its jurisdiction.

JSC requested Supreme Court to look into this case yesterday, as well as one year ago.

Supreme Court has been criticised by lawyers for failing to look into this case until now.
