Maldivian pilgrim injured in accident

A Maldivian pilgrim has been injured in an accident this morning in Mecca.

Head of Maldivian Hajj Mission, Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Mohamed Didi said that the victim, who had a vehicle drive over her foot, is the wife of Salah Shihab.

Didi said that she lost the skin on her foot in the accident, and that she was immediately taken to the hospital.

Didi referred to the doctors and said that she would require plastic surgery to replace the skin.

She will depart from Mecca tomorrow, following her family’s request to perform the surgery in Male’.

Didi said that she did not suffer any injuries other than losing the skin on her foot.

The first group of Maldivian pilgrims returned yesterday afternoon. Islamic Ministry said that the 246 pilgrims who returned yesterday belong to Fath’h group.

The last flight of pilgrims is scheduled to return on 11 November.
