COVID-19: 225 new cases; 1,520 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 225 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 86,830.      

According to HPA, the 225 new cases include; 39 cases from the greater Male’ region, 153 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 33 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 27 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 85,057.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,520 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.      

4,527 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,428 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 225 new infections this Saturday, 742 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 23: 225 cases 

October 22: 55 cases 

October 21: 131 cases 

October 20: 95 cases 

October 19: 113 cases 

October 18: 46 cases 

October 17: 77 cases 

Maldives has recorded 240 COVID-19 deaths.
