MWSC commences work on Himandhoo water and sewerage project

Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has stated that the company has commenced physical works on AA. Himandhoo water and sewerage project.

As per the company, they are presently engaged in constructing the facility needed to house the water plant, and that equipment and material needed for the project have been transported to the island.

The project involves work on establishing a 6.35-kilometer main water pipeline network, construction of a RO facility, installation of two RO plants, and three water tanks to store water. Additionally, MWSC will also install water meters in households, provide water connections, and supply clean and safe drinking water.

Meanwhile, the project will also see the establishment of a 5.31-kilometer main sewerage network, a 956-meter pump line, construction of an administrative building, three pump stations, and one sea outflow. Additional work will involve the establishment of junctions in households, providing sanitation connections, and providing sanitation services to households.

MWSC is set to facilitate a generator set and vehicle needed to manage the water and sanitation system, and equipment to test the water quality.

Himandhoo water and sewerage project was awarded to MWSC by the Ministry of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on November 15, 2020.  

The project is valued at MVR 65.83 million and must be completed in a span of 540 days.
