President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that the harbour construction project for Dh. Maaenboodhoo will be included in the budget for next year.
The President said this while addressing the people of Maaenboodhoo, as part of his current trip to Dh. Atoll.
He noted that Maaenboodhoo is in need of several development projects, and said that the harbour construction project will commence next year to ease transport difficulties faced by the people of the island.
The President said that the sewerage system project for Maaenboodhoo will also commence soon.
He urged the people of Maaenboodhoo to stay united in spite of political differences. He said that lack of compassion among the people arising from polarisation can be a hindrance to the island’s development.
Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, who is accompanying the President during this trip, said at the function that since the 2004 tsunami, the government had not done anything for the development of the island other than the construction of a preschool; however, the citizens of Maaenboodhoo are assured that development projects will commence during President Waheed’s administration.
