Colonel Nazim officially leaves JP

MP for Dhangethi Constituency, former Defense Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim has officially left Jumhoory Party (JP).

In a letter sent today to JP leader, Maamingili MP Qasim Ibrahim, Nazim wrote that he wishes to form a new political party to serve the people and was therefore leaving JP, effective immediately. 

He also thanked Qasim and other JP members for their support.

While Nazim parted ways with JP today, MP for Thimarafushi Constituency Abdulla Riyaz officially left JP yesterday.

Riyaz, Nazim, and four other parliamentarians have been revealed to be working on forming a new political party in the Maldives. They have reportedly gathered 3,000 signatures needed to register the party with the Elections Commission.

Nazim was elected to the Parliament as a JP candidate and had remained loyal to the party, until now.
