Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced 766 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 34,134.
According to HPA, the new cases include; 571 cases from the greater Male’ region, 171 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 23 cases from operational resorts, and 1 case from an industrial island.
Meanwhile, 107 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 25,782
With the new developments, Maldives now has 8,261 active cases.
There are 205 patients in hospitals.
3,153 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.
81 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
HPA also added that up until May 6, 300,438 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the Maldives.
According to HPA, 249 people received their first dose today. 46 were from the Greater Male' Area while 203 were from other atolls.
3,209 people also received their second dose of the vaccine today. 25 of them were from the Greater Male' Area while the remaining 3,184 were from other atolls.
A total of 126,790 people have received their second dose against COVID-19.
