COVID-19: With 402 new infections, active cases surpass 5,000

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 402 additional cases of the new coronavirus, increasing confirmed coronavirus cases in Maldives to 30,237.

According to HPA, the 402 new cases include; 174 cases from the greater Male’ region, 179 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 6 cases from operational resorts, and 43 cases from industrial islands.

Meanwhile, 159 additional coronavirus patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 24,934.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 5,221 active cases.

There are 161 patients in hospitals.

3,854 samples (including repeated samples) have been tested for the new coronavirus over the last 24-hours.

With the 402 new infections this Saturday, 2,619 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.

May 1: 402 cases

April 30: 465 cases

April 29: 318 cases

April 28: 464 cases

April 27: 386 cases

April 26: 328 cases

April 25: 256 cases

74 coronavirus patients have died from complications.
