Maldives’ COVID-19 death toll rises to 63

Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced on Wednesday that a patient who was brought to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)’s Emergency Room in an unresponsive state and declared dead soon after has tested positive for COVID-19.

HPA identified the deceased as a 67-year-old male.

He was pronounced dead at 06:00 am.

“This is the 63rd COVID-19 death in the Maldives,” announced HPA.

Maldives has 20,144 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 165 new cases recorded on Tuesday. 17,470 patients have since recovered, and the country currently has 2,605 active cases.

186 of the patients are hospitalized.
