Positive cases identified from the island of Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City have led the authorities to invoke monitoring mechanisms for the island.
Two cases were tested positive from the island. The two individuals had been quarantined on the island after traveling for work purposes. These two cases had four more contacts from the island who all tested positive.
Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodhiq confirmed the news to Sun. He said that the two had tested positive upon quarantine release tests. They had been quarantined at the worksite, where there were 60 others, according to the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC).
The HEOC added that the authorities were not informed of any contact by the two individuals, which meant that no one else was quarantined from the island.
