Income support disbursed to more than 17,000

Finance Ministry statistics have shown that a total of MVR 221.1 million has been disbursed to 17,147 individuals as part of income support allowances. 

The government has been providing those affected by COVID-19 financially with MVR 5,000 through the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).

Individuals include people who were left unemployed due to the virus starting from March last year and those who meet the required conditions for the allowance. 

The third round for the allowance is now applicable and will expire at the end of January.
