No confidence motion on President will not be successful: Government Spokesperson

The government has said that it is not concerned about the motion of no confidence filed against President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik to the parliament by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Government Spokesperson Abbas Adil Riza said today that the motion will not be successful. Abbas was confident that the parliament coalition against MDP is strong, and will remain strong until the election in 2013.

“There have been no problems within the coalition. The government is not bothered by this motion. MDP wants to waste time, nothing else,” he said.

In addition to the motion against the President filed today, MDP also filed a no confidence motion against Home Minister Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed yesterday.
