Parliament forwards names for HRCM, SC to Committees

The Parliament has forwarded the names nominated for the Human Rights Commission and the Supreme Court to the relevant Committees for evaluation.

President Solih nominated the names of Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim and Criminal Court senior judge Ali Rasheed Hussain to the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The names were forwarded to the Judiciary Committee today. After evaluation, if the Committee approves, a vote will be called for their appointment.

The Parliament also forwarded the names of Human Rights Commission nominees by the President. The names nominated for the Commission are:

• Mariyam Laiza from H. Fehiaalaa
• Ibrahim Zahid from Lilymaage, G. Dh. Vaadhoo
• Dr. Adhuham Abdulla from M. A. Maaveyoge
• Aminath Shifaathu Abdul Razzaq from Dorenseavilla, Feydhoo, Addu City
• Hussain Amru from V. Roashan
• Moomina Waheed from M. Jienna
• Azleema Ahmed (Dhaftharu No. 94-341)
• Mohamed Fauzy from Bahaarumaage, G. A. Villingili

The names were forwarded in the order of priority to the parliament’s Human Rights and Gender Committee. If Committee approves of the names, they will be asked for a vote in the house.
