Parliament’s Economic Affairs Committee has shortlisted five candidates who applied for vacancies on the Board of Directors of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), for submission to the parliamentary floor for a vote.
Applications were opened following the resignation of a Board member, and the impending expiration of the term of three more members.
Eight candidates applied for the vacancies. The Economic Affairs Committee shortlisted five candidates following the vetting process, and prepared its report for submission to the parliamentary floor on Wednesday, August 19.
THE 5 SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES:
MIRA’s Board is composed of seven members; a member appointed by the Finance Minister, five members appointed by the President, and the Commissioner General of Taxation. The authority to appoint the chairperson of the Board lies with the Finance Ministry.
