Speaker of the parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has said that work to hold discussions in atolls regarding five important bills is being done.
Speaking in today’s parliamentary session, Nasheed said that the bills to be discussed include the amendment to the employment act, police service bill, transitional justice bill, higher education bill and education bill. The bills required collective discussions among the public in a broad manner, said Nasheed.
Work was being done to hold discussions in every atoll, which would not incur much in expenses. The two bills regarding education are currently in the Committee phase. The two bills are now open for public recommendations.
Nasheed also said that the recommendations and advice of those involved were required for the two bills regarding education and the police reform bill as well.
He said that the evaluation of the bills should be broadened and the opinions of experts must be heard for the bills.
“The citizens of the Maldives will also be able to view these lectures.” Said Nasheed.
