National University to recommence classes in the next few weeks

Maldives National University (MNU ) has announced it will be recommencing with classes in a few weeks.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shareef spoke with Sun regarding the recommencement of classes. The Vice-Chancellor stated that discussions were now focused on “How the examinations can be held. The situation has changed. We cannot conduct mass examinations together like before.” 

MNU brought classes to a temporary standstill following the outbreak of the virus in the Maldivian capital. According to the academic calendar of MNU, examinations for the first semester of the year 2020 is to be held in June. The second semester is to be commenced in July.

“We are unsure of how classes will recommence. If a situation where classes cannot be conducted face to face, then the alternative is online classes. We are sure that we can complete the syllabus if we can restart classes.” Said Vice-Chancellor Shareef who added that assignments of students have also been relaxed.

MNU utilizes Moodle and Power campus resources to conduct online classes.
