Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced new measures to strengthen the safety of passengers using the Velana International Airport in light of the Covid-19 situation in the country.
MACL announced that it will increase disinfection and sanitization of “touchpoints” in the airport.
A video shared by the company shows trolleys and other equipment at the airport sanitized before being used by passengers. Buses and baggage belts at the airport are also disinfected. MACL has previously imposed measures to ensure high safety and hygiene standards at the airport.
The airport will be closed from 21:00 to 6:00 until April 27. A coordination center has also been established at the airport due to the situation.
Temperature screening is also conducted at the airport. An isolation facility has also been set up at the airport.
