The government of Maldives announced that test samples for the Covid-19 virus taken from individuals in five resorts of the country had returned as negative. Tests were conducted on the individuals after they were suspected of the virus.
Monitoring mechanisms placed on the resorts were lifted after the negative test results.
The government also announced that monitoring mechanisms were placed on a safari a suspected case of the virus. The safari is named “Maldivian Safari” and the suspected case is a Maldivian national. Four more locals six foreigners are on the safari. Authorities are currently conducting contact tracing on the suspected case.
Four more safaris are also under mechanisms after suspected cases of the virus. They are named as VSG Glory Cargo, Ark Novel Safari, SY Stars Safari, and Island Safari.
The Maldives has so far confirmed 18 cases of the virus. 13 of these cases have made full recoveries. They are all foreigners. Three Maldivians positive for the virus remains in the country. A further two tourists had departed from the country after completing their quarantine periods before their test results were received as positive.
