Maldives issues quarantine order on locals arriving from USA

As a precautionary measure, the Maldives has issued quarantine measures on locals arriving from the United States of America.

The order, which will be in effect starting from March 18, midnight, means that local arrivals from the USA would go into quarantine for a period of 14 days to a location designated by the Maldivian government.

The measure was taken against the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the Maldives. The US has confirmed around 6,400 cases of the virus which has killed 114 in the country.

The Maldives has restricted travelers from Italy, China, parts of France, Germany and South Korea as well as from Spain, Iran, Malaysia, and the UK.
